Amsterdam North Holland
Immerse yourself in over 500 years of Amsterdam's dark history with Amsterdam Dungeon, an immersive attraction that combines interactive theater, special effects, and spectacular sets. Located in the former Nieuwezijdse Kapel, this tour combines entertainment and thrills for an extraordinary experience.
Opened in September 2005, Amsterdam Dungeon is part of a network of themed attractions managed by Merlin Entertainments, already known for its Dungeons in London, Berlin, and York. Housed in a former 15th-century church, the site has been completely refurbished to offer an interactive tour retracing the darkest pages of local history. Although the building retains its original structure, no religious elements are visible to visitors.
The tour lasts about 80 minutes and accommodates groups of around 30 people. Guided by actors in costume, visitors experience a series of immersive shows inspired by real events and urban legends from Amsterdam. The staging, special effects, and interactions create an atmosphere that is both playful and disturbing.
Amsterdam Dungeon is located in the city center, a few minutes’ walk from Dam Square and Central Station. It is easily accessible by tram, bus, or bicycle. Paid parking is available nearby for visitors arriving by car.
