Condomerie, founded in 1987 in Amsterdam, is the world’s first store entirely dedicated to the sale of condoms. Born of a discussion on HIV/AIDS, the idea was to break down the taboos associated with contraception and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, while offering a wide range of products and appropriate advice.

The origin of Condomerie
The concept was conceived by Marijke Vilijn, Ricky Janssen and Theodoor van Boven. After discussing the HIV/AIDS pandemic, they decided to open a specialized store, which quickly gained notoriety. The name “Condomerie” and its logo were chosen to embody both the accessibility and the seriousness of the initiative.
