The Fo Guang Shan He Hua Tempel is a Buddhist temple located in Amsterdam's Chinatown district, on the Zeedijk. Its name, pronounced gguh ggwaa, means “lotus flower” in Chinese. It is Europe's largest temple built in the traditional Chinese palace style. Designed by Dutch architect Fred Greven, it was commissioned by Buddha's Light International Association, an organization promoting Chinese Buddhism and affiliated with Taiwan's Fo Guang Shan movement.
