History

Built in 1967 by the Figee company, the crane was in service until 1996. Its control station is located approximately 17 meters above the dock and its boom reaches a height of 45 meters. In 2001, it was acquired by a new owner who undertook its transformation into unique accommodation. After nearly two years of work, the crane was converted into a hotel room for two people.

Features and amenities

Access to the crane cabin is via two elevators, replacing the original ladders. The interior, with a volume of 60 cubic meters, includes:

  • A double bed
  • A sitting area with seating inspired by Charles Eames’ designs
  • A bathroom with a walk-in shower for two people
  • A panoramic terrace surrounded by a secure balustrade

The most remarkable feature of this accommodation is that the crane is still functional: guests can rotate it 360° to choose the view they want during their stay.

A unique experience

Sleeping in the Havenkraan van Harlingen is a unique experience that combines industrial history and modern comfort with a touch of unparalleled originality. This bold transformation has preserved the authenticity of the place while offering its visitors high-end comfort.
