Located in Westpoort, Amsterdam, the sculpture Het Kissing Couple XXXL (Het Kussend Paar) was created by artist Saske van der Eerden. Inspired by Delft’s famous blue couple, this monumental work takes pride of place near the Hempont ferry, at the crossroads of the cycle paths between Amsterdam and Zaandam. A true visual landmark, it brings a touch of romance and emotion to the urban landscape.

Description
Measuring around ten meters high and weighing 6,700 kg, Het Kussend Paar is inspired by a small Dutch souvenir and pays tribute to the country’s traditional imagery. It took six months to build and almost two years to design. Illuminated every evening, it attracts the attention of passers-by and boats along the canal.
The project, carried out in collaboration with a number of partners, including the City of Amsterdam and the Ministry of Infrastructure, is part of an urban layout that includes benches and charging points for electric bicycles. More than just a work of art, this sculpture is an invitation to share love and immortalize a moment in front of this iconic symbol.
